This 1971 AEC is a chinese six recovery truck. Looks like it may have started life as a Mammoth Major 8x4 cut down to 6x2. Photo taken on 35mm at Lincoln in 2000.

This old AEC spent most of its later working life with the London Brick Co Ltd at Stewartby and was lent to Peterborough on the odd occasion when ours was out of commission. I don't know much about its days before LBC.

Could possibly be a Mammoth Minor, if it started life as a unit. Andrew.
Hi Steve. Was it an 8 wheeler when you knew it ? wonder if it was converted to recovery for towing buses as the type of crane is same as a lot of bus companies used at one time.
No Paul it was a 6 wheeler twin steer all the time I knew it in my LBC time, and in answer to your crane theory it does not have the same crane on it now as it did when owned by LBC. As far as I remember the twin ram crane and winch were removed by the owner LBC sold it to.
