1950 Foden OG4/6 4x2 Tipper

This well restored Foden tipper was seen on The Stray, Harrogate, England in August 2010.
Although the standard colour for BRS was red, their tippers were painted grey.
Can anyone out there explain why.

BRS had many colours all denoting the type of work it did, red was general haulage, green parcels and grey tipper fleet. They also had a few other colours blue and cream etc
